Proximal Femoral Nail Manufacturer, Supplier & Exporter in Ahmedabad
The Proximal Femoral Nail (PFN) was invented in 1997 by the AO/ASIF group to fix unstable pertrochanteric, intertrochanteric and subtrochanteric fractures of the femur. It was created to be fixed with a minimum surgical puncture, which contributes to the minimization of soft-tissue injury. The nail has an anatomical curve and is shapeless on the tip ensuring that it is easier to insert and simpler to align, and minimizes the concentration of stress and associated complication. PFN also allowed the femoral shaft to be reamed less frequently hence making the process less invasive. The PFN was improved over time and was substituted by the PFN Antirotation (PFNA) system, wherein the helical blade is used to give the bone compaction and greater stability particularly in osteoporotic bone.
HCM Orthocare is a reputed manufacturer, provider, and exporter of Proximal Femoral Nail (PFN) used within the remedy of complex fractures in the upper part of the femur (thigh bone). Designed with medical precision and produced using advanced technology, our PFNs ensure powerful stabilization, early mobility, and improved recovery outcomes for patients with high-pressure femoral fractures.
- What is a Proximal Femoral Nail? Why is it Used?
A Proximal Femoral Nail is a specialised Intramedullary implant used for fixing fractures near the hip vicinity, specially intertrochanteric, subtrochanteric, and pertrochanteric fractures. These fractures are commonplace in elderly sufferers due to osteoporosis or falls and require strong inner support for restoration. The instrument Proximal Femoral Nail is used to treat patients with both pertrochanteric fractures and intertrochanteric fractures, as well as high subtrochanteric fractures.
The PFN is inserted into the medullary canal (central cavity of the bone) to stabilize the damaged fragments, permitting the bone to heal in the best alignment. Its design permits for minimum invasive surgical operation, reduced operative time, lower blood loss, and faster rehabilitation.
